The Story
The Kruger is named after the mothership of the South African National Parks, where the real rustic and primitive Africa can be found amongst the bush. From watching the magnificent herds of game roaming across the acacia-studded savannah to spotting the Big Five along the Sabie River, Kruger truly is the quintessential safari experience and is the inspiration behind the name of the boot.
Handcrafted with a Goodyear welted construction, its lightweight Vibram sole makes it the perfect trekking partner. Whether you’re on a wet autumn morning dog walk, or a summer hike through the African bush, the specialised stitching will keep your feet dry and comfortable, whilst adding a bit of unique character to your outfit. Its elegant frame is crafted with the finest Spanish leather to ensure that the boot moulds to your feet and does not sag at your ankles. Characterised by an outward facing, full length zip and tassel for practicality, and finished off with a hearty buckle at the top, this exquisite boot is endlessly charming. Enhance your outfit with its unique character.
Goodyear Welted
Invented by Charles Goodyear Jr. in 1869, the Goodyear welt technique is still considered one of the finest methods of shoe construction. The ‘welt’ is a strip of leather which is sewn around the perimeter of the boot’s outsole. Crucially, the stitching attaches the welt to both the insole and the upper of the shoe without piercing the part under the foot. This maximises the shoe’s water resistance and allows you to easily replace the sole, whilst keeping the original upper, after years of reliable service. The Goodyear welting construction also uses cork – a material that is lightweight, insulating, moulds to the shape of the foot, and breathes – to fill the cavity between the insole and the outer sole.

Calf Width
If you have been on one of our stands, you’ll know that we love champagne and how well it pairs with our boots. As such, in naming our calf widths we have taken inspiration from the Demi bottle, for when you are celebrating alone (28cm C); the Regular bottle, for date night or special occasion (36cm C); and the Magnum bottle, for those family and friends get togethers to celebrate life (42cm C).
Care & Repair
Whilst every mark on your VVS boots tells a story, caring for your boots is still important, so that when they’re perfectly moulded to your feet, they are still in great condition.
Boot Care
Use a soft brush to give the leather a light buffing and to remove any loose dirt or salt particles which can cause damage over time.
Whilst visible dirt and salt can harm leather, dry conditions are leather’s ‘silent killer’. When the natural moisture escapes under dry conditions, the fibrous interweave will start to weaken and visible cracks form. By conditioning your boots before use with a good leather conditioner or balm and then always keeping the leather supple, you can avoid this sad tragedy. With the addition of waterproofing spray, this will allow your boots to retain their water resistance.
