The Story
This hybrid boot is named after a trusted friend: Harvey, a wire-haired Jack Russell, who gave us so many treasured memories. Harvey loved his long walks and fishing trips and was integral in protecting us from the ‘Big Bad Postman’. Countless shoes were put through their paces alongside Harvey, so longevity was as important as style when crafting this boot.
Hand crafted from the finest Spanish suede, the Harvey boasts uncompromising durability with the added benefits of Goodyear construction and Norwegian stitching. Warm, breathable, and thanks to its water-resistant storm welt and Commando sole, the Harvey is guaranteed to live up to its rugged silhouette and robust aesthetic.
The Chelsea Boot
The traditional Chelsea boot has been a firm fashion favourite across Britain for many decades and is a recognised wardrobe staple for everyone from country folk to city high-flyers. Its heritage dates to the Victorian era and even after nearly two hundred years, very little alteration has been made to its original design. Characterised by its tapered fit, elastic side panels, ankle height, and pull tabs, contemporary models rarely veer away from the ‘classic look’. Whilst the round toe styles give a more relaxed aesthetic, a pair with a sharp chiselled toe adds a smart allure: perfect for wearing with formalwear.
Goodyear Welted
Invented by Charles Goodyear Jr. in 1869, the Goodyear welt technique is still considered one of the finest methods of shoe construction. The ‘welt’ is a strip of leather which is sewn around the perimeter of the boot’s outsole. Crucially, the stitching attaches the welt to both the insole and the upper of the shoe without piercing the part under the foot. This maximises the shoe’s water resistance and allows you to easily replace the sole, whilst keeping the original upper, after years of reliable service. The Goodyear welting construction also uses cork – a material that is lightweight, insulating, moulds to the shape of the foot, and breathes – to fill the cavity between the insole and the outer sole.
Norwegian Stitching
Norwegian stitching, or Storm Welt, is the heavy duty stitching that holds together the upper, welt, and insole of a shoe. It is visible on the outside of the shoe, adding to its tough accents, and prevents water from entering through the seam between the upper and the welt.
Care & Repair
Whilst every mark on your VVS boots tells a story, caring for your boots is still important, so that when they’re perfectly moulded to your feet, they are still in great condition.
Boot Care
Suede boots can generally be cleaned by lightly rubbing them with a damp, lint-free cloth or specialist suede brush. Straight motions in different directions are advised to help remove dirt and salt without pushing them deeper into the fibres.
Unlike leather, suede can be easily ruined by water, which causes stains on its surface that are generally irreparable. Use a waterproofing spray after cleaning your boots to allow them to retain their water resistance. It is important to do this frequently to prevent stains, resist scratches, and keep the suede supple.
